Mrunal Thakur, who starred alongside Nani in the heartwarming sports drama ‘Jersey’, recently celebrated the film’s two-year anniversary with a touching tribute on Instagram. The film, which left an indelible mark on audiences, has since been remade in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor and Thakur playing the lead roles.
In her Instagram post, Thakur shared a captivating video montage that featured behind-the-scenes glimpses of the film’s production. The video showcased the camaraderie and joy experienced on set and was accompanied by a soulful track from the film. Thakur expressed her gratitude to director Gowtam Tinnanuri, writing, “Oh how time flies, can’t believe it’s already been 2 years since Jersey! What a fantastic journey it was… @gowtamnaidu sir it was an absolute pleasure working with you, thank you for believing in me and for keeping up with all our madness on set.”
‘Jersey’ tells the story of a talented but unsuccessful cricketer who, driven by the desire to fulfil his son’s wish for a cricket jersey and represent the Indian team, makes a comeback to the sport in his late thirties.
As Thakur reminisced about the film’s anniversary, the original ‘Jersey’, starring Nani, also marked its fifth year since release. To honour the milestone, the film had a special re-release. The enduring significance and impact of ‘Jersey’ are evident not only through its compelling story but also through the stellar performances of its cast.
