Hollywood star Pedro Pascal is currently in discussions to take on the role of Reed Richards in the highly anticipated ‘Fantastic Four’ movie. Pascal, best known for his breakout performance as Prince Oberyn Martell in ‘Game of Thrones’, is reportedly in negotiations to portray the leader of the iconic superhero group, as per industry reports.
Having previously headlined the successful series ‘The Mandalorian’ under Marvel Studios’ parent company Disney, Pascal is no stranger to the Marvel universe. The film will be directed by Matt Shakman, renowned for his work on ‘WandaVision’, stepping in after the departure of ‘Spiderman’ trilogy creator Jon Watts.
Scheduled for a US theatrical release on May 2, 2025, Marvel Studios secured the cinematic rights for ‘Fantastic Four’ after the acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
The superhero team, created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, made their debut in Marvel Comics in 1961 through The Fantastic Four #1. The group consists of the shape-shifting scientist Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic; Reed’s girlfriend and later wife, Sue Storm-Richards, aka the Invisible Woman; Sue’s hot-tempered younger brother Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and their friend Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
