In the much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster hit “War,” Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan is set to embark on a thrilling new adventure. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the sequel sees Roshan reprising his role as the R&AW agent-gone-rogue, Kabir Dhaliwal.
This time, the action-packed journey takes Kabir to exotic locales across the globe, with Japan being the first stop. In a unique twist, instead of traveling to Japan, Japan comes to him, as Roshan was seen filming an exhilarating action scene at YRF Studios in Andheri. The set meticulously recreated a Japanese monastery, complete with intricate details, under the direction of choreographer Se-yeong Oh.
Producer Aditya Chopra, aiming to elevate the sequel’s adrenaline-fueled sequences, enlisted the expertise of 12 action directors. The decision to explore Japanese settings stemmed from a desire to infuse fresh elements into the franchise. A sprawling set inspired by a centuries-old heritage monastery was constructed, serving as the backdrop for intense showdowns between Kabir and skilled warrior monks proficient in martial arts.
To prepare for the demanding role, Roshan underwent rigorous training in martial arts for weeks and mastered the art of wielding a katana, a traditional Japanese sword. The special sequence promises to showcase the actor’s prowess in hand-to-hand combat and katana duels.
Filming for “War 2” commenced last October in Spain, with Roshan immersing himself in the spy thriller this month. Co-stars Jr NTR, portraying the antagonist, and leading lady Kiara Advani are expected to join the production in April. Director Mukerji reportedly plans to kick off Jr NTR’s filming with a high-octane face-off against Roshan, spanning nine days across Indian and international locations.
Dedicated to delivering an unforgettable cinematic experience, Roshan has allocated three months to complete filming for “War 2,” with the production slated to wrap by the year’s end. Fans can mark their calendars as “War 2” is scheduled to hit screens in 2025, promising an action-packed extravaganza.
