In a groundbreaking cinematic venture, Nicolas Cage, FKA twigs, Noah Jupe, and Souheila Yacoub are set to headline Lotfy Nathan’s upcoming film “The Carpenter’s Son.” The movie promises a unique twist on the childhood of Jesus, blending elements of horror with the rarely explored narratives from the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas.
Produced by Paris-based Cinenovo and L.A.-based Spacemaker, with international sales handled by Goodfellas and co-represented by Anonymous Content and WME for North America, the project has already garnered significant attention. Nathan, known for his acclaimed debut feature “Harka,” draws inspiration from historical texts for his screenplay, aiming to delve into a dark tale of a family in Roman Egypt.
In this narrative, Nicolas Cage takes on the role of the Carpenter, while FKA twigs portrays the Mother, and Noah Jupe stars as the Boy. Souheila Yacoub, known for her role in Gaspar Noe’s “Climax,” joins the cast in a pivotal role. With an impressive lineup of talent, including Grammy-nominated FKA twigs and rising star Noah Jupe, anticipation for the film is high.
Scheduled to begin shooting this summer, “The Carpenter’s Son” marks another ambitious project for Nathan, following the success of “Harka” and his documentary “12 O’Clock Boys.” The film is produced by Julie Viez, Alex Hughes, Riccardo Maddalosso, and Nicolas Cage, among others.
Cinenovo, known for its focus on art-house cinema and international talent, continues to expand its portfolio with this project. Alongside “The Carpenter’s Son,” the production company has other notable films in the pipeline, including “The 67th Summer” from Abu Bakr Shawky.
Meanwhile, L.A.-based Spacemaker, established in 2020, has already made a mark in the industry with a series of acclaimed films. With Lotfy Nathan’s “Harka” among its notable productions, Spacemaker continues to champion innovative storytelling.
As excitement builds for “The Carpenter’s Son,” audiences eagerly anticipate Nathan’s bold interpretation of a timeless story, promising to deliver a captivating cinematic experience.
