To transport cinephiles on a nostalgic journey through the golden era of Indian cinema, the newly launched program “Chronicles of Timeless Treasure” celebrates the rich heritage of classic Indian films with meticulous restorations and screenings. The inaugural event showcased the iconic film “Pyaasa,” a timeless masterpiece renowned for its poignant narrative and soulful music.
According to officials, the initiative goes beyond simply presenting classic films; it aims to revive them. The films featured in this program have been carefully restored by the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) under the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) as part of the National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM). Every Saturday, the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) invites film enthusiasts to experience these restored classics in its state-of-the-art theater, providing an immersive journey back to the era of their original release.
The NMIC’s extensive collection of cinematic artifacts enhances the experience, allowing visitors to gain insights into the history and evolution of Indian cinema. Officials noted, “The restored films evoke nostalgia and offer a unique blend of history, culture, and entertainment. As visitors explore the museum, they can deeply appreciate the filmmakers, actors, and technicians behind these legendary works. ‘Chronicles of Timeless Treasure’ is more than an event; it’s a movement dedicated to preserving and honoring the legacy of Indian cinema.”
