Cruz, known for her role as Laura Ferrari, shared her sentiments on the red carpet, describing Streep as her favorite actress of all time.
Cruz conveyed her excitement about meeting Streep, stating, “I just saw Meryl again, and she’s the one that I always rush to hug. She’s always so sweet and so kind.” The actress reminisced about her previous praise for Streep during a 2023 BAFTA Life In Pictures event in London, where she expressed a desire to collaborate with the three-time Oscar winner.
The admiration seems to be mutual, as Cruz recounted Streep mentioning her in a speech during the 3rd annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles. “I could not believe it,” Cruz exclaimed. “It was like she knows that I exist, you know? She is my number one hero, and I would love to work with her.”
Despite their yet-to-be-realized collaboration on the big screen, Cruz and Streep previously shared a moment in a magazine photo for the charity (RED) in 2012. Cruz humorously described the experience as “the most interesting love scene I’ve ever done,” as reported by Vanity Fair.
