The Telugu film Kalki 2898 AD, which premiered in theatres worldwide on June 27, has been a massive success, continuing its run after 35 days. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the mythological science fiction film features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The movie has achieved a global box office gross of Rs 1200 crore, placing it fifth among Indian films with the highest box office collections.
Now, Kalki 2898 AD is preparing for its digital debut. It will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime in Telugu and on Netflix for Hindi audiences starting August 23. An official announcement from the film’s makers is expected soon.
Set 6000 years after the Kurukshetra war, the film also includes appearances by Disha Patani, Brahmanandam, Vijay Devarakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma, and SS Rajamouli. The soundtrack is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
Kalki 2898 AD marks the beginning of the Kalki Cinematic Universe, with work already underway on the pre-production of its sequel, slated for release in 2027.
