In a recent development, Prithviraj Sukumaran has addressed the persistent speculations surrounding the revival of the shelved project, ‘Arival Chuttika Nakshathram,’ which was set to star Mammootty in the lead role.
During the promotions of his upcoming film, ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil,’ Prithviraj confirmed that the period drama, initially expected to be a collaboration between the two megastars and filmmaker Amal Neerad, will not see the light of day. The project, announced in 2012, had garnered significant attention for its intriguing premise set against the backdrop of a Kerala hill station during the pre-independence era. However, it faced setbacks during pre-production, leading to its shelving due to budget and logistical constraints.
Prithviraj emphasized the compelling concept of ‘Arival Chuttika Nakshathram’ but deemed its revival impractical in light of similar-themed projects emerging in recent years. While addressing speculation about future collaborations with Mammootty, Prithviraj hinted at a potential project but noted the veteran actor’s busy schedule as a hindrance. The duo had previously collaborated on the film ‘Pokkiri Raja.’
Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran is gearing up for the release of ‘Gurvayoor Ambalanadayil’ on May 16. Directed by Vipin Das of ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jay Hey’ fame, the film is anticipated to be a lighthearted entertainer, with actors Basil Joseph and Nikhila Vimal playing pivotal roles.
