Actor Rahul Bose, known for his distinctive roles in films like ‘Mr and Mrs Iyer’ and ‘Jhankaar Beats’, recently shared his views on the current state of stardom in the film industry. Speaking to Times Now, Bose suggested that the rise of OTT platforms has not diminished the allure of star culture but has rather shifted the focus of audiences.
According to Bose, contemporary audiences are less concerned about an actor’s ability to portray diverse roles, be it as villagers or industrialists, cricketers, or aeronautical scientists. Instead, what seems to matter most to viewers is the mere presence of these stars on screen, irrespective of their acting prowess.
Delving deeper into the concept of charisma in the industry, Bose defined it as the level at which an actor captivates an audience, making them feel a personal connection or familiarity, almost as if they have known the actor in a past life.
Bose further elaborated on the role of charisma in an actor’s career, stating that while some actors may lack charisma and consequently struggle to make a mark, others with abundant charisma can still attain success, even if their acting skills are not top-notch. He emphasized that in the visual medium of cinema, charisma plays a pivotal role in determining an actor’s success.
Recently, Rahul Bose was seen in the film ‘Neeyat’, alongside Vidya Balan and Prajakta Koli.
