The much-anticipated film ‘Maarivillin Gopurangal’ has finally received a new release date after facing multiple postponements. Directed by Arun Bose, the film features Indrajith Sukumaran, Shruthi Ramachandran, Win C, and Sarjano Khalid in the lead roles. The announcement was made by the director on his social media, stating, “Come, Celebrate with us in theatres worldwide from May 10th, 2024.”
Initially, the team had planned to release the film during the Eid-Vishu season. However, they opted to delay the release due to the presence of other big-ticket films at the box office.
In a recent post, the director explained the reason for the delay, highlighting the flourishing state of Malayalam cinema. He mentioned, “It’s a beautiful time for Malayalam cinema. Since the films that got released in February are still running successfully and filling the theatres, and the new releases have already secured a good number of theatres, we strongly believe that ‘Maarivillin Gopurangal’ is a celebration and it needs a good number of theatres to reach its audience. Sometimes a wait is sweet too… considering the success of this industry that is providing bread and butter to a large number of people. Malayalam cinema is at its peak. Congratulations to all the winners and warm wishes to all the new releases…”
Meanwhile, another Malayalam film, ‘Love Me’, has also announced a new release date and is set to hit theaters on May 25th this year.
On the box office front, ‘Aavesham’, starring Fahadh Faasil, has been performing well, with the film mints Rs 30.25 crore in India net on its eighth day of release.
As the Malayalam film industry continues to thrive, audiences can look forward to more quality cinema in the coming days.
