In the 2024 SAG Awards, American actor Taylor Zakhar Perez shared an unusual fan encounter, as reported by People. During a red carpet interview with E! before the awards ceremony, the Red, White & Royal Blue actor revealed that a fan had followed him from China back to the United States. Loni Love, the carpet anchor, inquired about his weirdest fan experience, to which Perez responded, “My wildest fan encounter? Somebody followed me to China and then followed me back home.” He described it as interesting and wild, assuring that he was okay.
Perez, one of the ambassadors for this year’s SAG Awards along with Phil Dunster from Ted Lasso, chose not to delve into the details of this peculiar fan interaction. However, he did touch upon the potential sequel to ‘Red, White, and Royal Blue,’ the 2023 romantic comedy based on Casey McQuiston’s novel. Perez expressed optimism about a sequel, stating, “I do – I think it’s up to Casey McQuiston because I think she has the opportunity to tell a cool story.” He mentioned Amazon Studios and the involvement of Casey McQuiston and director Matthew Lopez in the decision-making process, keeping his fingers crossed for a positive outcome.
Perez and Dunster were appointed as SAG ambassadors for embodying the values of the profession and serving as positive role models. SAG-AFTRA stated on February 14 that they actively use their platform to advocate for humanitarian and public service endeavors.
In other SAG Awards highlights, ‘Oppenheimer’ claimed the top SAG prize, with actors celebrating the success of the strike. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, broadcast live on Netflix.
