As the release date for Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, featuring Prabhas and directed by Prashanth Neel, draws near, excitement among fans is reaching unprecedented levels. Up until Wednesday, the film had amassed $625,684 (Rs 5.21 crore) from 360 locations, selling approximately 23,000 tickets across 1,181 shows. In a surprising overnight surge, the numbers leaped to $702,33 (Rs 5.85 crore) from 380 locations, covering 1231 shows.
Salaar holds significant importance for both Prabhas and Prashanth Neel. For Prabhas, it marks a pivotal juncture in his career post the Baahubali franchise, where maintaining consistent box office success has posed challenges. While his films often enjoy strong openings, sustaining momentum has proven to be a formidable task.
Meanwhile, for Neel, the film is of paramount importance following the massive success of the KGF franchise. Speculation abounds regarding a potential shared universe between the two film worlds. The movie is set to clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, director Prashanth Neel addressed the clash, stating, “Clashing with any film, whether it’s a newcomer or the biggest star in Indian cinema, is not an ideal situation. However, decisions about release dates are typically logistical and made by the production team. I don’t interfere in their marketing or release plans, just as they don’t interfere in my filmmaking process. While another big film like Dunki with Rajkumar Hirani is a significant release, our primary concern is always whether the audience will appreciate and enjoy our movie.”
Apart from Prabhas, the star-studded cast includes Prithivraj, Shruti Haasan, Tinnu Anand, Jagapathi Babu, Easwari Rao, and Sriya Reddy.
