Actor Siddharth made an indelible impression in the minds of the Tamil and Telugu audiences with his stint in romance films. He’s been experimenting with genres of late, albeit with mixed results at the box-office. However, romance continues to be a comfort genre for the actor, and he is set to return to it in N Rajasekar’s upcoming film, Miss You.
Backed by 7 Miles per Second, the trailer of Miss You was launched on Saturday in a special event that was attended by the cast and crew of the film, and Karthi, who was invited as the special guest. In the trailer, we see all the trappings of a well-made romance film with the right doses of action and sentiment. Siddharth plays Vasu, who happens to develop an ‘unusual love story’ with Ashika Ranganath’s Subbulakshmi, and the film traces the different ways in which their lives inexplicably change. There is a clear case of a comedy of errors, and relationship drama, and the trailer sets the right tone for a breezy romantic ride that has become a rarity in Tamil cinema.
In fact, this was addressed at the trailer launch event also where Siddharth and Karthi spoke about how the audience is craving for feel-good romantic films but are bombarded with big-budget actioners involving guns, spears, and swords.
Miss You marks the sophomore Tamil venture of Ashika Ranganath, who will next be seen in Karthi’s Sardar 2. Miss You, which features Karunakaran, Maaran, Bala Saravanan, Anupama, and Rama in pivotal roles, is directed by N Rajasekar, who made quite a mark with his previous movies like Maapla Singam and Kalathil Sandhippom. The romantic comedy has music by Ghibran, and cinematography by KG Venkatesh. Miss You is set to hit the screens on November 29, and will clash at the box office with RJ Balaji’s gritty thriller, Sorgavaasal.
