In an exclusive announcement, it has been revealed that Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Brendan Fraser are set to star in the upcoming film “Sacrifice,” which will be co-written and directed by Romain Gavras. The film, described as a satire, promises to bring a mix of combustible energy and propulsive anarchy, reminiscent of Gavras’ previous work.
The script, penned by Gavras and Will Arbery, reportedly captivated the lead actors, prompting their commitment within just four days of receiving the script. With more actors expected to join the cast soon, the project, represented by CAA Media Finance and Rocket Science, is anticipated to garner significant attention at Cannes.
The plot centers around a high-end charity gala that is disrupted by a violent group of radicals on a mystical quest to fulfill a prophecy. Taylor-Joy is slated to portray the passionate antagonist, while Evans will play the movie star targeted for sacrifice, alongside two others.
Gavras, known for his acclaimed music videos and his previous film “Athena,” draws inspiration from Greek mythology, infusing the narrative with elements from his upbringing immersed in tales from his father, renowned filmmaker Costa Gavras, and French film producer Michele Ray-Gavras.
Production is set to commence in September, with Evans, Taylor-Joy, and Gavras serving as producers, and Arbery as executive producer.
Representatives for the lead actors and filmmakers have confirmed their involvement in the project, highlighting the anticipation surrounding this collaboration.
