Acclaimed director Sriram Raghavan is reveling in the success of his latest thriller, ‘Merry Christmas,’ which features a stellar cast led by Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. With a career spanning two decades, Raghavan has once again demonstrated his storytelling prowess, earning another accolade with this cinematic venture.
In a recent conversation with Indianexpress.com, Raghavan shared insights into the post-release phase of ‘Merry Christmas.’ Reflecting on a hectic last week, he mentioned the intense mixing process leading up to the film’s completion and subsequent release. Expressing satisfaction with the overall response, Raghavan acknowledged that some viewers have drawn comparisons to his previous work, ‘Andhadhun,’ a sentiment he did not intend to evoke. He explained that the deliberate pacing in the beginning was crucial for the narrative’s cohesion in the end.
Raghavan also touched upon the dynamics of audience engagement, noting that those watching at home on OTT platforms might not invest more than five minutes before deciding to continue. However, he believes that the commitment of time and money in a theater setting encourages viewers to give the film a bit more leeway in setting up its mood.
‘Merry Christmas’ graced the silver screen last Friday, marking Raghavan’s return to cinema halls since the release of his 2018 film, ‘Andhadhun.’
