Renowned actress Suchitra Pillai, recognized for her notable roles in films like “Dil Chahta Hai” and her current stint in “The Broken News 2” alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Sonali Bendre, has spoken out about misconceptions surrounding her personal life.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Pillai addressed allegations of being labeled a ‘boyfriend snatcher’ in the media following Preity Zinta’s breakup with her current husband, Lars Kjeldsen. Pillai clarified that Kjeldsen had previously dated Zinta but emphasized that she was not the cause of their separation.
Denying the accusation, Pillai stated, “No, that’s another story from somebody else. Preity and I were never friends, we were acquaintances because we had a common friend. But, yes, Lars Kjeldsen did date Preity Zinta for some time but that was the breakup he had before he met me and only this part is true. I didn’t come between them, they split up for a totally different reason.”
Reflecting on a past incident where she was wrongly blamed for a breakup, Pillai recounted a controversy surrounding her relationship with Andrew Coyne, associated with Star Television in India, which sparked rumors about her involvement in his breakup with model Achla Sachdev. However, she asserted that she had no role in the breakup, and she and Sachdev now share laughter over the misunderstanding.
Suchitra Pillai and Lars Kjeldsen tied the knot in 2005 and are proud parents to their daughter, Annika Kjeldsen. Meanwhile, Preity Zinta married Gene Goodenough in 2016 and welcomed twins, Gia and Jai, through surrogacy in 2021.
