In a much-anticipated announcement, iconic actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are set to join forces for a significant event after a prolonged hiatus. The last time the legendary duo shared a public platform was at the audio launch of the first part of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ a couple of years ago.
The film industry is gearing up to celebrate the birth centenary of the late M. Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with an event titled ‘Kalaigniar 100’ scheduled for December 24th. Karunanidhi, a political stalwart, began his illustrious career in Tamil cinema as a screenwriter and achieved widespread recognition. His debut film ‘Parasakthi,’ featuring Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan, remains a timeless socio-political drama in Indian cinema.
The Nadigar Sangam and Producers Council representatives, including Nasser, Karthi, Thenandal Murali, and R.K. Selvamani, paid visits to the residences of both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, personally extending invitations to the event. Given their close association with Karunanidhi, the industry expects both legends to grace the occasion.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth, fresh from the success of the blockbuster ‘Jailer,’ has a promising lineup with upcoming films such as ‘Lal Salaam,’ ‘Thalaivar 170,’ and ‘Thalaivar 171.’ Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan, following his career-best grosser ‘Vikram,’ is set to feature in a slew of projects, including ‘Indian 2,’ ‘Indian 3,’ ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ ‘Thug Life,’ and ‘KH 233.’ Additionally, Kamal continues his successful hosting stint on ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ for the seventh consecutive season.
