In a recent development, Suriya’s production house is rumored to have secured the Tamil remake rights for the latest Bollywood hit, ’12th Fail.’ The film, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, features Vikrant Massey in the lead role and has garnered widespread acclaim for its portrayal of a coming-of-age story inspired by real-life events.
The star-studded cast includes Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshi Chatterjee. Despite the buzz surrounding the potential Tamil remake, an official announcement from 2D Entertainment is still pending.
’12th Fail,’ based on a book by Anurag Pathak, narrates the inspiring journey of Manok Jumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to achieve the prestigious rank of IPS officer. While Suriya is said to have acquired the remake rights, the details about the lead actor for the Tamil version remain undisclosed.
On the professional front, Suriya, last seen in ‘Etharkkum Thunidhavan’ in 2021, is currently engrossed in the shooting of ‘Kanguva.’ The period action drama, directed by Siva, is slated for a 2024 release in 3D across 10 languages. Starring Disha Pantani as the female lead and Bobby Deol as the antagonist, the film boasts music by Devi Sri Prasad.
Suriya’s upcoming projects also include ‘Suriya 43’ with Sudha Kongara, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya Nazim, and Vijay Varma. The film, yet to be titled, is set to have music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Additionally, the actor has ‘Vaadivaasal’ with Vetrimaaran and is reportedly in talks for the movie ‘Rolex’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
In a parallel development, the Hindi remake of ‘Soorarai Pottru,’ directed by Sudha Kongara, is underway. Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, the film will see Suriya in a cameo appearance, further solidifying his presence in the Bollywood film industry.
