Kannada actor Tarak Ponnappa is rapidly making his mark in the neighbouring Tollywood industry. With three Telugu films already released and several upcoming projects like ‘Devara,’ ‘Pushpa 2,’ and an untitled film, his presence in the industry is on the rise.
Ponnappa attributes the increasing appeal of pan-Indian films to their ability to offer opportunities to regional actors, irrespective of their background, leading to a more diverse onscreen presence. He believes that Kannada actors are expanding their horizons due to their versatile skill set, which allows them to excel in various roles.
Having left the Kannada devotional show ‘Udho Udhoa Renuka Yellamma’ to focus entirely on Telugu projects, Ponnappa says, “Currently, my priority is to continue working in Telugu cinema where I’m receiving promising opportunities.” He further adds, “Once I’ve gained recognition, I intend to diversify the types of characters I portray, and success tends to open doors to new opportunities.”
In his upcoming film, Tarak will be taking on a villainous role, which required a complete transformation. He also shared his experience of filming a fight sequence with Allu Arjun. “Since I’m not highly experienced in performing stunts, he provided guidance on body positioning to enhance the menacing look on screen. I was impressed by his extensive knowledge of dance and stunts,” Ponnappa commented.
