In a significant turn of events at the global box office, Prasanth Varma’s ‘Hanu-Man’, starring Teja Sajja, has outshined Trivikram Srinivas’ star-studded ‘Guntur Kaaram’. Both films, released on January 12, 2024, have crossed the Rs 200 crore milestone. According to trade analysts, ‘Hanu-Man’ has taken the lead with a worldwide collection of Rs 225.62 crore, surpassing ‘Guntur Kaaram’s Rs 200.32 crore.
After a twelve-day run, ‘Hanu-Man’ continued its impressive streak, earning approximately Rs 3.50 crore in net collections in India on its thirteenth day. This pushes its total Indian collection to Rs 147.15 crore, crossing the coveted Rs 200 crore mark worldwide.
Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ stars Mahesh Babu, Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, and Jayaram in lead roles. Despite facing initial skepticism due to negative reviews on its opening day, the film managed to break even by its 12th day. ‘Guntur Kaaram’ follows the story of Ramana (Mahesh), a rowdy from a troubled family, on a quest to uncover the mysteries behind his mother’s abandonment.
On January 24, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ added Rs 0.65 crore to its India net on its thirteenth day, reaching a total Indian collection of Rs 120.15 crore. Producer Naga Vamsi, addressing concerns about the film’s performance, stated post-Sankranthi that ‘Guntur Kaaram’ was performing exceptionally well in Andhra Pradesh, surpassing expectations in comparison to Nizam and overseas markets.
