Tramell Tillman, known for his role in the Apple TV+ series “Severance,” is set to join the star-studded cast of the upcoming “Mission: Impossible 8.” The eighth installment of the popular film series, previously titled “Dead Reckoning Part Two,” has confirmed Tillman’s addition to the cast, promising to continue the franchise’s tradition of high-stakes action.
Tillman’s breakout performance in “Severance” has earned him nominations for both the SAG Awards and the Spirit Awards. He starred alongside actors such as Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and John Turturro in the series and has also appeared in shows like “Dietland,” “Godfather of Harlem,” and “Hunters.” Tillman is set to reprise his role in the second season of “Severance,” further elevating his profile in the entertainment industry.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, “Mission: Impossible 8” has faced some challenges during production due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that began in July 2023. However, filming resumed in March 2024, with new scenes being shot in the United Kingdom and other international locations.
The film features a strong cast that includes both newcomers and returning veterans. Alongside Tillman, the newcomers include Katy O’Brian, Nick Offerman, and Hannah Waddingham, while the returning cast features Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Vanessa Kirby.
“Mission: Impossible 8” is expected to showcase some of the most daring stunts yet, with behind-the-scenes images revealing Tom Cruise performing high-risk action sequences. Filming is being done with IMAX digital cameras, allowing for a three-week run in IMAX theaters compared to the one-week run of “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.”
The story of “Mission: Impossible 8” picks up where “Dead Reckoning Part One” left off, with Ethan Hunt and his team racing against time to find and destroy The Entity, a powerful AI that threatens global security. Given the film’s scope and the ongoing success of the franchise, director McQuarrie has hinted at a potential ninth movie in the future.
“Mission: Impossible 8” is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on May 23, 2025.
