Popular Tamil actor Dhanush, who began his career in Kollywood two decades ago, has now become a globally recognized figure. Making waves not only in Indian cinema but also in Hollywood, he recently made his debut in the Russo Brothers’ film ‘The Gray Man’. However, his foray into English cinema wasn’t his first, as he had previously starred in the international production ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’, directed by Ken Scott. The film, exploring themes of global immigration, saw Dhanush portraying the character of Ajatashatru Lavash Patel, embarking on a journey through Paris, London, and Libya, encountering immigrants and their challenges along the way.
Originally released in 2019 across Europe, UK, USA, Canada, Singapore, and Malaysia, the film received acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Now, after garnering positive reviews, it is set for a re-release in Tamil Nadu, India. Titled ‘Pakkiri’ in Tamil, the film is scheduled to hit screens on March 22, 2024. Initially slated for an Indian release in 2020 due to Dhanush’s massive fan following, the pandemic delayed its theatrical debut.
Apart from his cinematic ventures, Dhanush recently appeared in ‘Captain Miller’ and eagerly awaits the release of his upcoming film ‘Raayan’, currently in post-production. He also has several projects in the pipeline, including ‘Kubera’, ‘Tere Ishk Mein’, ‘Vada Chennai 2’, and an unconfirmed collaboration with director Rajkumar Periasamy.
