Renowned actress Radhika Apte graced the international runway for the first time this year, strutting in stunning creations by designer Vaishali S. Apte showcased two exquisite pieces from Vaishali S’s Satori collection at the fall/winter 2024 showcase in Paris—a vibrant azure blue ensemble and a sophisticated maroon dress.
Reflecting on her experience collaborating with the “Monica O My Darling” star, Vaishali S shared her admiration and respect for Apte. “It was a delightful surprise to discover and eventually become friends with Radhika. She is incredibly dedicated, with a remarkable soul and immense respect for everyone on the team,” said the designer. “Radhika is not only flexible and easy to work with but also exudes sweetness and professionalism. Our shared commitment to sustainability and social impact, along with our aligned sensibilities, made working together particularly fulfilling.”
Discussing the selection of the showstopper pieces Apte wore on the runway, Vaishali revealed, “I created several dresses with her in mind, and she ultimately chose the maroon and blue ones. She truly appreciated them, especially after understanding the extensive craftsmanship involved—from the families weaving the fabrics for months in villages to the artisans dedicating their skills to intricate handwork in my atelier. The fact that nothing goes to waste and everything is reused in a circular manner resonated deeply with her.”
The Satori collection is a celebration of classic Indian hand weaves and an effort to breathe new life into traditional textiles. Vaishali S described Apte’s reaction to seeing the designs, stating, “Radhika adored the maroon dress for its unique use of my proprietary cording technique and its comfort. She was equally impressed by the blue dress, appreciating the detailed handwork and its multi-layered artistic expression.”
This collaboration not only highlights Apte’s versatility as a performer but also underscores Vaishali S’s dedication to sustainability and craftsmanship in the world of fashion.
