Actor Vikrant Massey, known for his recent critically acclaimed film ’12th Fail,’ stressed the importance of maintaining integrity and not letting monetary gains determine his choice of projects. Having started his career in television and later transitioning to movies, Vikrant has journeyed a long path before earning recognition with ’12th Fail.’
Recently, Vikrant, along with co-stars Medha Shankr and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, expressed gratitude as ’12th Fail’ achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first film in 23 years to reach its silver jubilee.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Vikrant Massey opened up about the challenges of navigating success while staying true to his principles in the entertainment industry. He believes in representing the common man and avoiding the pitfalls of complacency and arrogance. “The idea is to be as honest and hard-working as you can be,” he said.
Vikrant emphasized that acting solely for financial gain does not align with his values and feels unnatural to him. His focus remains on roles and stories that resonate with audiences and offer meaningful narratives.
Having transitioned to films about a decade ago, Vikrant faced numerous challenges along the way. However, last year marked his first significant box-office success as a leading man with ’12th Fail.’ Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film grossed nearly Rs 60 crore worldwide by the end of last year, standing out as a word-of-mouth success during a time when mid-budget films often struggle to secure theatrical releases.
Currently, the team is celebrating the film’s silver jubilee in theaters. Vikrant Massey’s next project is ‘The Sabarmati Report,’ in which he will star alongside Raashii Khanna.
