Renowned actor Yash, popularly known as the ‘Rocking Star’ following his remarkable success in ‘KGF’ and the upcoming ‘KGF 2’, marked his birthday on January 8 amid fervent celebrations by his fans. The excitement reached a tragic turn in Suranga village, Gadag district, as fans erected a towering 25-foot cut-out of the actor on Sunday. Regrettably, the festive atmosphere took a somber note when the cut-out inadvertently came into contact with an electric wire around 11 pm, resulting in the untimely demise of three fans. Additionally, three others are currently hospitalized and undergoing treatment.
Expressing his profound grief and concern, Yash personally visited the families of the deceased fans. He urged fans to express their admiration in safer ways and emphasized that such extreme actions are not a true reflection of fandom. Yash conveyed, “If you wish me wholeheartedly, from wherever you are, that is the best gesture for me.” He discouraged dangerous displays of affection such as hanging banners, bike chases, and risky selfies, urging fans to focus on personal growth and success.
Disturbed by the tragic incident, Yash revealed his apprehensions about celebrating his birthday, stating, “Tragic incidents like these make me fear my own birthday.” He discouraged excessive displays of his popularity, emphasizing that he prefers to keep such demonstrations to a minimum. Yash acknowledged the responsibility of being a role model and urged fans to prioritize safety and responsibility. “Parents are waiting for you at home. If you respect me, then be responsible first,” he stressed.
In light of the unfortunate events, Yash shared his decision not to celebrate his birthday elaborately this year, considering the rising COVID cases. He chose to keep the celebration simple and restricted to his family to avoid any harm. Addressing the financial repercussions of the tragedy, Yash mentioned his intention to provide support to the families of the deceased fans but refrained from disclosing specific details, citing it as an inappropriate time for such discussions.
