Olivia Wilde, known for her recent directorial venture “Don’t Worry Darling,” has joined forces with director Gregg Araki for a new thriller titled “I Want Your Sex.” The film, backed by Black Bear, delves into themes of desire, domination, and fantasy, posing the question of how far one can go. In the narrative, Elliot, portrayed by Wilde, lands a coveted job working for the renowned artist Erika Tracy (played by Wilde), who recruits him as her sexual muse. However, Elliot soon finds himself engulfed in a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal, and murder, far beyond his initial expectations.
The screenplay, penned by Karley Sciortino and Araki, promises an intense journey into the complexities of human relationships and desires. Produced by Seth Caplan along with Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler, the film is set to begin production in Los Angeles this summer.
Wilde, who recently directed and starred in “Don’t Worry Darling,” is also attached to helm the film adaptation of the ’90s comic books “Avengelyne,” as well as the Christmas comedy “Naughty” for Universal Pictures.
Araki, acclaimed for his work on films like “Mysterious Skin” and “White Bird in a Blizzard,” brings his unique storytelling style to “I Want Your Sex.” With his track record of exploring provocative themes, Araki is expected to deliver a gripping cinematic experience.
The project will be introduced to international buyers at Cannes, with CAA Media Finance handling U.S. rights. Executives John Friedberg and Courtney L. Cunniff are onboard as executive producers for the film.
Wilde is represented by CAA, Hamilton Hodell, Untitled Entertainment, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, while Araki is represented by Black Bear. Sciortino is represented by CAA, Brigade Talent, and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
