In a Cannes market exclusive, it has been revealed that Ryan Phillippe, known for his role in “Shooter,” and Kate Beckinsale, famed for her part in “Underworld,” are set to lead the cast of the upcoming thriller “The Patient.” This under-the-radar project, which has recently wrapped principal photography in Alabama, also features Kelly Greyson and David Cade in prominent roles.
Directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil from his own script, “The Patient” follows the story of a man who wakes up in a hospital with no memory of his past. As he tries to piece together his life, he becomes suspicious of the motives behind the mysterious Dr. Rose, played by Beckinsale, who seems to be orchestrating events to protect a powerful politician involved in a murder.
The project is produced by Robert Ogden Barnum of The Barnum Picture Company and Benaroya Pictures CEO, Michael Benaroya, in collaboration with Raja Collins. Financing comes from International Film Trust, Benaroya Pictures, Dream Capture Films, BondIt Media Capital, Buffalo 8 Post-Production, and Three Point Capital.
Executive producers include BondIt CEO Matthew Helderman, COO Luke Taylor, and VP Finance Tyler Gould, along with Michael Sirow and Eric Brenner. International Film Trust (IFT), led by Sales President Christian de Gallegos, is handling worldwide rights for the film.
Both Beckinsale and Phillippe bring their extensive acting experience to the project, with Beckinsale recently starring in Amazon’s “The Widow” and Paramount+’s “Guilty Party,” while Phillippe appeared in last year’s action film “The Locksmith” and is currently involved in the production of the Amazon series “Motorheads.”
Robert Ogden Barnum expressed his excitement about working with Phillippe and Dewil again, praising the quality of Dewil’s script and adding that Beckinsale’s involvement is a significant asset to the project. Michael Benaroya also highlighted the exceptional cast and the thrilling nature of the film, which he believes will appeal to distributors worldwide.
