Amazon MGM Studios has just released the trailer for “Jackpot!”, an upcoming action-comedy featuring Awkwafina, John Cena, and Simu Liu. Directed by Paul Feig, the film is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 15.
In “Jackpot!”, Awkwafina stars as Katie, an aspiring actor who unexpectedly wins the multi-billion-dollar “Grand Lottery” in the year 2030. However, there’s a dangerous twist: she must collect her prize by sundown, and anyone who kills her and takes the ticket can claim the fortune.
John Cena portrays Noel Cassidy, an amateur lottery protection agent assigned to ensure Katie’s safety long enough for her to claim her winnings, in exchange for a share of the jackpot. Simu Liu plays Louis Lewis, a rival protection agent and owner of L.A.’s largest lottery protection agency, who also has his sights set on Katie’s commission.
The cast also includes Ayden Mayeri, Donald Elise Watkins, Sam Asghari, and Murray Hill. Written by Rob Yescombe, “Jackpot!” is produced by Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Paul Feig, and Laura Fischer, with executive producers John Cena, Michelle Morrissey, Rob Yescombe, and Zack Roth.
