Shah Rukh Khan was recently honored with the prestigious Pardo Alla Carriera Award at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, in recognition of his significant contributions to cinema. The superstar attended the event to receive the accolade and shared an exciting update about his forthcoming film, ‘King’. During a live session with the audience, Khan confirmed his collaboration with director Sujoy Ghosh on the highly anticipated project. He disclosed that the film will feature extensive action sequences, which has prompted him to focus on weight loss for the role.
“Action is difficult; you have to practice it, learn it, and rely on doubles for some dangerous stunts. I have some wonderful guys helping out, but to present it authentically, you need to do 80 percent of it yourself,” Khan explained. He humorously added that despite the on-screen glamour, the behind-the-scenes reality is far less glamorous. “For ‘King’, I have to start working out, lose some weight, and stretch to avoid any injuries during action scenes. It’s painful, and while I may look cool on screen, it’s quite a different story on set,” he said.
Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the Pardo Alla Carriera Award, Khan remarked, “Thank you all for welcoming me with such wide arms – wider than the ones I do on screen.” He also compared the experience of being in Locarno to India’s summer heat, noting, “It’s a very beautiful, very cultural, very artistic, and extremely hot city of Locarno. So many people packed into a little square, and it’s just like being home in India.”
