The much-anticipated release, ‘Premalu,’ featuring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in lead roles, hit the cinema screens on February 9, garnering positive reviews and a decent opening. Despite not boasting a star-studded cast, the teen romantic comedy managed to secure an impressive collection of nearly Rs 90 lakhs in India on its first day.
According to Sacnilk reports, the film’s opening day gross collection in India reached Rs 1.05 crore, with an additional Rs 30 lakh earned from overseas markets. The film’s overall occupancy on the premiere day was recorded at 36.60%, with varying percentages observed during different show timings. Morning shows started with 28.15% occupancy, followed by 23.73%, 32.54%, and a significant 61.99% in the afternoon, evening, and night shows, respectively.
The positive reception and strong word of mouth contributed to the film’s success, prompting filmmakers to respond by expanding screenings to 41 additional screens on the second day. The official social media handle of the movie confirmed the development, expressing wishes for a delightful weekend and encouraging audiences to book their seats.
Directed by Girish AD, ‘Premalu’ boasts a screenplay co-written by the director and Kiran Josey. The film’s technical aspects include cinematography by Ajmal Sabu and editing by Akash Joseph Varghese. Vishnu Vijay is credited with composing the film’s songs, while Suhail Koya penned the lyrics. The art department is managed by Vinod Raveendran, with Dhanya Balakrishnan designing costumes and Ronex Xavier handling makeup. The late Jolly Bastin choreographed the action sequences, and dance moves were orchestrated by Sreejith Dancity.
