In a much-anticipated release, the film ‘Bramayugam’ featuring the iconic actor Mammootty in the lead role hit the cinemas on Thursday, February 15, leaving a significant mark on the box office. According to reports from Sacnilk, the opening day gross collection for the film stood at an impressive Rs 3.56 crore in India.
Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, ‘Bramayugam’ distinguishes itself with a unique visual presentation, shot entirely in black-and-white format. The film appears to have resonated with the audience as evident from the initial box office collections for day one.
Securing a substantial box office collection on its debut, ‘Bramayugam’ garnered a net of Rs 3.10 crore in India. Notably, the film earned Rs 3.05 crore from its home state, Kerala alone. Further contributing to its collection, the Mammootty starrer fetched Rs 35 lakh from Karnataka, Rs 12 lakh from Tamil Nadu, and Rs 3 lakh from Andra Pradesh, Telangana. The remaining regions of India added Rs 1 lakh, culminating in a total of Rs 3.10 crore net from India on its opening day.
Director Rahul Sadasivan, in an exclusive interview, expressed, “This is a ‘black and white film,’ and I can’t see it in colour.”
The film’s debut day witnessed an overall Malayalam occupancy rate of 46.52%. Occupancy rates fluctuated throughout the day, with morning shows recording 41.44%, afternoon shows at 33.89%, evening shows at 46.46%, and night shows stealing the spotlight with an impressive 64.27%.
‘Bramayugam’ has unquestionably made a strong statement with its box office performance on day one. As the weekend approaches, expectations are high for the film to create history at the box office.
