English actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has secured his next role in the upcoming heist thriller “Fuze,” directed by David Mackenzie. Anton is set to launch the film at the European Film Market in Berlin this month, according to Variety.
Taylor-Johnson, known for his collaboration with Mackenzie in “Hell or High Water” (2016), reunites with the director for “Fuze.” The film’s plot revolves around the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb at a London construction site, leading to a mass evacuation that serves as the perfect cover for a heist. The screenplay is crafted by Ben Hopkins.
In addition to “Fuze,” Taylor-Johnson is involved in several upcoming projects, including the lead role in Marvel’s “Kraven and the Hunter,” slated for release in August. He is also set to star in “The Fall Guy” alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, as well as Robert Eggers’ highly anticipated “Nosferatu.”
David Mackenzie, whose previous work includes the acclaimed “Hell or High Water,” which received four Oscar nominations, expresses his vision for “Fuze” by combining the high stakes of an unexploded bomb with the intensity of a bank robbery. Mackenzie notes the aim to create tension by merging these two genres in a realistic context.
The film is produced by Gillian Berrie for Sigma Films, Sebastien Raybaud, and Callum Grant for Anton. Giles Nuttgens, the cinematographer from “Hell or High Water,” joins the project as the director of photography.
Anton is handling the sponsorship of “Fuze” and selling worldwide rights at EFM, where a sizzle reel will be presented. UTA Independent Film Group and WME Independent are co-representing Anton’s U.S. rights.
David Mackenzie and DP Giles Nuttgens are praised for their collaborative talent by Gillian Berrie, expressing excitement about the project. Raybaud and Grant highlight Mackenzie’s unique ability to blend large-scale filmmaking with distinctive characters in “Fuze,” describing it as a fusion of the tension from a bomb movie with the heist genre.
