Critics have lauded FaFa’s portrayal of Ranga in the film, with ETimes giving it a rating of 3.5 out of 5. The review states, “Just when you think Fahadh Faasil has aced some of the best characters in his career, he goes all out as Ranga in Jithu Madhavan’s goofball gangster film Aavesham. Madhavan has shown his unique style once again after his debut horror movie, Romancham, delivering another distinctive comedy with Aavesham.”
