In a recent social media announcement, actor and director Rishab Shetty, renowned for the 2022 Kannada blockbuster ‘Kantara,’ has set the stage for the prequel, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1,’ scheduled to grace screens in 2025. The casting call for this cinematic endeavor has attracted attention, with Tollywood sensation Payal Rajput expressing keen interest in auditioning for a role in the film.
Rajput, recognized for her compelling performance in the horror film ‘Mangalvaaram,’ reached out to Shetty through social media, formally expressing her desire to participate in the auditions. The production house, Hombale films, had earlier disclosed specific criteria for casting, seeking men aged between 30 to 60 and women aged between 18 to 60.
In response to the casting call, Payal Rajput remarked, “I’m interested in being part of this outstanding film. Please consider me for an audition. This message is on my behalf. Payal Rajput.” The actress, who has been receiving acclaim for her recent work, also urged Shetty to watch her latest release, ‘Mangalvaaram,’ to witness her prowess as an actress.
Speaking on the audition process, Rajput stated, “I’ve learned that auditions are being held for ‘Kantara: Chapter 1.’ I am eager to contribute to this esteemed project. My recent film, ‘Magalavaaram,’ has garnered significant praise for my performance. I would appreciate if you could spare some time to watch the film. Directed by Rishab Shetty, who also takes on the lead role, ‘Kantara’ delves into the life of a man growing up without a father, subsequently assuming the role of the village’s Bhoota Kola.
