In a much-anticipated move, the makers of the upcoming film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ have unveiled a teaser introducing Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Ashwatthama. The 21-second teaser, shared on the film’s official Twitter account, showcases Bachchan dressed in muddy white attire, praying to a Shiva linga inside a cave. A child inquires, “So you don’t die? Are you a god? Who are you?” Bachchan, with a bleeding chest, touches his heart, setting the tone against a calm, whistling background score.
The scene transitions to a battlefield where Bachchan appears in a striking red and black outfit with a yellow tilak, brandishing a weapon. He declares, “Since the last age, I have been waiting for the coming of the avatar, Guru Drona’s son, Ashwatthama.” The teaser ends with Bachchan’s character walking away from the cave, leaving viewers intrigued.
Earlier today, Bachchan took to Twitter to express his excitement about the project, saying, “It’s been an experience for me like no other. The mind to think such a product, the execution, the exposure to modern technology, and above all, the company of colleagues with a stratospheric superstar presence.”
The first look teaser was premiered on a sports channel ahead of Sunday evening’s IPL match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a bilingual film shot in Telugu and Hindi. Alongside Bachchan and Prabhas in the lead roles, the star-studded cast includes Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. The film is slated for a theatrical release on May 9.
