In an exciting development for Malayalam cinema, filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap is set to take on the role of the antagonist in Aashiq Abu’s upcoming directorial venture, ‘Rifle Club.’ The film, which also stars Dileesh Pothan and Soubin Shahir in lead roles, has generated buzz since a casting call was posted on social media in September 2023.
When the makers of ‘Rifle Club’ announced their casting call, Anurag Kashyap humorously responded, “You need a North Indian actor from Mumbai for a cameo?” To this, Aashiq Abu welcomed him with a positive reply, saying, “Yes Sirji, ❤️, most welcome.”
Directed by Aashiq Abu and penned by Sharfu-Suhas, Dileesh Karunakaran, ‘Rifle Club’ boasts a talented cast and crew. The film’s music is composed by Rex Vijayan, while Ajayan Chalissery is handling the art department, and Ronex Xavier is the makeup artist. Costume design is in the capable hands of Mashar Hamsa.
Aashiq Abu, known for his recent work in the horror genre with ‘Neelavelicham,’ a remake of Malayalam’s first horror film ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’ (1964), continues to make strides in the industry. The release date for ‘Rifle Club’ is eagerly awaited by fans, and this addition of Anurag Kashyap as the villain adds another layer of anticipation to the project.
