In Bollywood, where image is paramount, Boney Kapoor stands out for his frankness. As a prominent producer from the esteemed Kapoor family, his candid nature has garnered both praise and criticism. In a recent interview, Kapoor opened up about the inner workings of the Kapoor family, revealing how his children – Arjun, Anshula, Janhvi, and Khushi – sometimes struggle with the repercussions of his forthrightness.
Speaking to ABP Live, Kapoor was asked if he had ever said something publicly that caused issues within the family. He admitted to occasionally making mistakes when discussing family matters in the media, leading to domestic strife. “It has happened a lot of times,” he confessed. “Whenever I sit down for an interview, I tell them to just ask about me and not about family. Because sometimes, I get carried away and I say a lot of things. And they (my kids) say why do you have to speak so much?”
Kapoor mentioned that his children believe certain aspects of their lives, especially regarding their acting careers, should be discovered by the audience independently. “That’s when I say I am sorry, I made a mistake,” he said. When asked if this had happened recently, Kapoor noted that he had avoided interviews in the past month, thus preventing such incidents.
He shared an instance where his children became angry with him, leading to an emotional confrontation. “They have scolded me, gotten upset with me. After getting upset, kids cried, I cried, I apologized, they said dad don’t say sorry. It has reached that height,” Kapoor revealed.
During the recent promotions of “Maidaan,” Kapoor also discussed a disagreement with his brother Anil Kapoor regarding the casting for “No Entry 2.” He mentioned that Anil was unhappy about not being cast in the sequel, but later clarified that the situation was blown out of proportion.
