In a Pongal treat for fans, Dhanush starrer ‘Captain Miller’ hit theaters on January 12 and garnered positive reviews right from day one. The period drama, enjoying a surge in popularity during the Pongal holidays, has now crossed a significant milestone in its box office collection as it enters its fifth day.
Benefiting from the Tuesday holiday in Tamil Nadu due to Pongal, ‘Captain Miller’ witnessed substantial occupancy across the state. Trade reports indicate that the film earned close to Rs 10 crore on day 5 alone, pushing its overall collection beyond the impressive 50-crore mark.
Tamil Nadu has been a major contributor to ‘Captain Miller’s box office success, with the film reportedly earning Rs 35 crore in its home state. The movie has also performed well in Kerala, Karnataka, and overseas markets, ensuring a strong finish for the first week.
Despite the lack of official box office numbers, the makers of ‘Captain Miller’ have already declared the film a success. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the movie unfolds against the backdrop of the pre-Independence period, depicting a British government official who rebels against the establishment. Dhanush’s stellar portrayal of the character, coupled with noteworthy performances by Shiva Rajkumar and Sundeep Kishan, has captivated audiences. The film’s action-packed sequences are complemented by GV Prakash Kumar’s musical score.
As ‘Captain Miller’ concludes its first week, it stands as a testament to both critical acclaim and box office triumph, marking a successful venture for the entire team involved in its creation.
