In a recent interview with film trade analyst Komal Nahta, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared insights into the casting decisions for his upcoming film ‘Animal’ and reflected on his earlier project, ‘Kabir Singh.’ Vanga revealed that he initially considered Parineeti Chopra for the role of Preeti in ‘Kabir Singh’ before casting Kiara Advani in the film.
Vanga disclosed that he had signed Parineeti for ‘Animal’ approximately one and a half years before the shooting began. However, he explained that upon further consideration, he couldn’t envision the character Geetanjali in her portrayal. Taking responsibility for the decision, the director emphasized the importance of instinct over auditions in casting, expressing his admiration for Parineeti’s acting skills.
The director expressed regret for not being able to collaborate with Parineeti in ‘Kabir Singh,’ describing it as a longstanding desire to work with the actress. Vanga apologized to Parineeti and clarified that the film’s requirements took precedence over individual roles. Despite initial disappointment, Parineeti understood the reasoning behind the decision.
‘Kabir Singh,’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, received widespread acclaim for its performances and resonated well with the audience.
On the other hand, ‘Animal,’ which features Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Charu Shankar, and others in key roles, has been achieving remarkable success at the box office, breaking records. Vanga’s comments shed light on the intricacies of casting decisions in the film industry, emphasizing the director’s commitment to finding the perfect fit for each character.
