In a recent development surrounding the Tamil indie sensation “Enjoy Enjaami,” composer Santhosh Narayanan has accused music label Maajja of failing to compensate him, along with singers Dhee and rapper Arivu, for the song’s massive success since its release in 2021. Narayanan, in a video marking the third anniversary of the song, claimed that none of the three artists had received any payment for the viral hit.
The controversy escalated when Maajja’s CEO, Noel Kirithiraj, responded to Narayanan’s allegations through an Instagram story, seemingly mocking the composer. Kirithiraj suggested that Narayanan might be confusing a legal agreement with a “sugar daddy” and questioned the logic behind the composer’s claims.
In response, Narayanan condemned Kirithiraj’s remarks, accusing him of “sexually shaming” the artists associated with the label. The situation took another turn when Kirithiraj released a statement, refuting the allegations and placing blame on the artists involved, citing conflicts among them. Kirithiraj stated that, despite contractual obligations, Maajja had not received any disclosure or statements outlining direct engagements and revenues collected from the artists.
Notably, the dispute also prompted criticism directed at renowned musician AR Rahman, who had initially supported Maajja during its launch. Rahman clarified that he had no financial benefit or shareholding in the company, promoting it solely out of goodwill. Santhosh Narayanan and Dhee came out in support of Rahman, emphasizing his unwavering support and describing him as a victim of false promises and malice.
