In an exclusive interview with ETimes, versatile actor Pratik Gandhi discusses his latest project, ‘Crimes Aajkal season 2,’ where he takes on the role of a host for the first time. Known for his diverse roles and a penchant for experimenting with different formats, Pratik expresses his excitement about this unique opportunity.
When asked about his hosting debut, Pratik shares, “I am pretty excited because I have never done something like this for the screen. I am taking on the role of an anchor for the first time, and that too for a crime show. It’s an exciting thing to do as an actor, and I have always believed in experimenting with newer formats. This is one of those experiments that I am excited about.”
Reflecting on the concept of crime, Pratik states, “Though our constitution has already defined what is a crime in terms of the legal aspects, for me, a crime is the moment you hurt anybody or disturb somebody’s peace.”
Delving into his personal experiences, Pratik recalls childhood mistakes, saying, “There are a lot of them. As silly as it gets, I remember playing with my brother and hitting him so hard that his hand was swollen for two days. I felt that was a crime, and I cried over it.”
Addressing his association with director Hansal Mehta, Pratik describes him as a “friend, philosopher, guide, mentor.” He emphasizes the transformative impact of ‘SCAM 1992’ on his life and career, calling it a “dream phase.”
Discussing his upcoming role as Gandhi in collaboration with Hansal Mehta, Pratik shares, “Gandhi is something I always wanted to do. I have been performing Gandhi on stage for the last eight years. The web series explores Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’s life from his young days to the end, revealing exciting anecdotes and insights.”
When asked about comebacks in the industry, Pratik commends Bobby Deol’s stylized return with ‘Animal,’ stating, “Bobby Deol has done the most stylized comeback this year.”
As the year comes to a close, Pratik expresses his desire to end it by being at home with family and friends, simply chilling.
