Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor, celebrated for his versatile acting prowess and consistent box office success, has made it clear that he currently has no intentions of venturing into Hollywood. Despite the increasing cross-pollination between the Indian and international entertainment industries, Kapoor remains committed to contributing solely to Indian cinema.
In a throwback video from an earlier conversation at Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares, Kapoor expressed his satisfaction with his contributions to Indian cinema when asked about potential Hollywood aspirations. He stated, “Mujhe Hollywood mein abhi interest nahi hai kyuki ek to main yaha apna naam banane ki koshish kar raha hoon. I want to contribute to Indian cinema.” Kapoor emphasized the importance of representing one’s own culture and characters on a global stage, pointing out the success of films like ‘Crouching Tiger’ and the significance of cultural proximity in achieving global recognition. He cited Ang Lee as an example, noting that Lee had not made a film with Hollywood stars to gain recognition.
Despite his current lack of interest in Hollywood, Kapoor did not completely rule out the possibility of working internationally in the future. He mentioned that if a good opportunity presented itself, he would be open to it. However, for now, he is content with focusing on Indian films. “I’m very happy with the Indian films,” he affirmed.
On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently immersed in the filming of Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, in which he will be portraying the iconic role of Lord Ram. The highly anticipated project has also made headlines for featuring the legendary Hans Zimmer in his Bollywood debut, alongside the renowned AR Rahman.
