South Indian star Yash, who gained immense popularity with his portrayal of Rocky Bhai in the blockbuster films “KGF” and “KGF-2,” almost underwent a significant change in his appearance for the sequel. Director Prashanth Neel initially envisioned a beardless look for Yash’s character to depict his progression in the story.
Initially planned as a single film, the narrative of “KGF” expanded, leading to the decision to split it into two parts. The second installment was conceived to continue the story post-interval with a new look for Rocky Bhai.
However, the extended gap between the filming of the two parts saw Yash’s beard becoming iconic among fans. When the time came to shoot the sequel, the actor was reluctant to part with his now-famous facial hair.
Sources close to the production revealed that Yash had to persuade director Prashanth Neel to let him retain his beard for the film. Eventually, Neel agreed to Yash’s vision, and the film’s success speaks for itself. “KGF-2” has emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian films, raking in over Rs 1200 crores at the box office.
