In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Gaurav Paswala, renowned for his recent role in Chandresh Bhatt’s ‘Prem Prakaran,’ shares insights into his upcoming OTT release, ‘Warso.’ Departing from his usual comedic and romantic roles, Paswala takes on a significant character in this real-based story set in Patan.
Directed by Abhinn Manthan, known for ‘Chasni,’ and written by the talented duo Azhar and Antima, ‘Warso’ is set to premiere on Shemaroo Gujarati on January 18th. The six-episode series unfolds around the authentic Patan family, renowned artisans of patola for over 900 years, boasting a rich history of accolades, including state and national awards.
Speaking about the series, Paswala highlights its focus on the conflict between heritage and practicality, delving into the contemporary struggles faced by today’s generation in the context of their cultural past. Rooted in real characters, the storyline has been adapted to resonate with a broader audience, reflecting the dynamics of many Gujarati families.
In ‘Warso,’ Paswala takes on the role of Hem Salvi, a rebellious individual driven by personal dreams, diverging from the family’s traditional legacy. Paswala expresses excitement about the series, describing it as one of the most captivating stories he’s encountered in a web series. He also mentions embracing the opportunity to experiment with his looks for added authenticity. Certain scenes were filmed in Patan, the very place where patola is crafted, lending a genuine touch to the storytelling.
