The unstoppable duo of Godzilla and Kong continues to dominate the Indian box office! “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” which made a roaring entry and topped the collections over the Easter weekend, has now surpassed the ₹50 crore mark. Early estimates suggest that the film earned around ₹4.75 crore nett on its fifth day, bringing its overall total to approximately ₹49.75 crore. The final figures are expected to push the film past the ₹50 crore milestone.
In an impressive feat, “Godzilla x Kong” has outpaced the collections of the Bollywood film “Crew,” starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon. Moreover, it has become one of the fastest films to cross the ₹50 crore mark in just five days. It stands as the only Hollywood release of 2024 to achieve this feat in India, surpassing movies like “Dune: Part Two,” “Kung Fu Panda 4,” and “Madame Web.”
The sequel to the 2021 film kicked off its box office journey with a collection of ₹13.25 crore on the first day, followed by ₹12.25 crore on Saturday and ₹13.5 crore on Sunday. Starting its regular working week on a high note, the film garnered ₹6 crore and added ₹4.75 crore on its fifth day.
In just its opening week, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is on track to surpass the lifetime collections of the 2021 film “Godzilla vs Kong.” The movie also recorded the highest opening weekend for the Monsterverse franchise and holds the title for the biggest opening weekend for a Hollywood film in India in 2024.
The film, directed by Adam Wingard, delves deeper into the histories of the Titans – Godzilla and Kong – exploring their origins and pitting them against a new adversary, Scargiver.
