Bam Margera, known for his role in the “Jackass” series, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to two counts of disorderly conduct following an altercation at his home near Philadelphia. The 44-year-old admitted his guilt just before his trial was set to begin. As part of the plea deal, Margera will serve six months of probation and will undergo random drug testing.
The charges stem from incidents that occurred during a two-week visit last year, during which Margera allegedly assaulted his brother and threatened other family members. His brother, Jess Margera, testified that Bam had been awake for days, culminating in a physical confrontation that resulted in Jess suffering a ruptured eardrum. Additionally, Bam’s girlfriend called the police after he kicked in her bedroom door during the altercation.
At a previous hearing, Margera informed the judge that he was undergoing treatment for drug and alcohol abuse. Defense attorney William J. Brennan highlighted Margera’s recent progress, noting that he has been clean and sober, and characterized his turnaround as a significant personal victory. “You can really say he won his case before today just by turning his life around,” Brennan remarked.
Outside the courthouse, Margera reflected on his struggles and his path to sobriety. “I needed that to realize I would go on drinking benders and end up in really bad situations,” he said. Margera is approaching the one-year anniversary of his sobriety on August 1 and expressed a strong commitment to maintaining his current lifestyle. “Now that I’ve come this far, I don’t want to go back to that lifestyle,” he stated.
