In a somber turn of events, the Tamil film industry mourns the loss of veteran actor Vijayakanth, who succumbed to illness on December 28. The impact of his passing resonates deeply within the industry, with numerous cinema stars expressing their grief on social media and through interviews.
Choreographer, actor, and director Jaguar Thangam, who shared a significant connection with Vijayakanth, recently recounted a poignant memory of the late actor during a recent interview. Taking us back to the late 1990s, Thangam reminisced about the inauguration of his gym, where he extended invitations to various cinema stars. Notably, Vijayakanth and Vijay were the esteemed chief guests for the occasion.
Thangam personally invited Vijayakanth for the gym’s inauguration and discussed the idea of promoting the event through posters. In a heartwarming gesture, Vijayakanth, upon learning about Vijay’s presence, suggested increasing the number of posters for the younger actor. This generous act aimed to ensure that Vijay garnered more attention from the public. Thangam graciously accepted Vijayakanth’s condition and proceeded to extend an invitation to Vijay.
Although Vijay accepted the invitation over a phone call, the two actors met in Mahabalipuram during a film shoot, where Vijay officially confirmed his attendance. Following the news of Vijayakanth’s participation, Vijay requested Thangam to emphasize the senior actor’s presence by displaying more posters and banners, showcasing the mutual respect between the two actors.
Jaguar Thangam fondly recalled the endearing bond between Vijay and Vijayakanth, describing it as a nostalgic and heartwarming connection. Notably, Vijay made a point to attend Vijayakanth’s funeral, where he paid emotional homage to the late veteran actor.
