In a recent interview with Variety, actress Jennifer Aniston, widely known for her role in ‘Friends,’ revealed details about her co-star Matthew Perry’s upbeat and healthy lifestyle in the days leading up to his sudden demise in late October. As Aniston spoke with the publication, her ‘The Morning Show’ co-star Reese Witherspoon provided support.
Aniston stated, “He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy, that’s all I know.” The actress emphasized that Perry, who portrayed Chandler Bing on ‘Friends,’ was not in pain or struggling, and he had not relapsed despite his well-documented history of battling drug and alcohol addiction.
“I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard. He really was dealt a tough one. I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard,” Aniston shared, expressing her fond memories of the late actor.
Acknowledging Perry’s influence on the iconic character Chandler Bing, Aniston credited him with creating a distinctive manner of speaking that became integral to the role. “His way of speaking created a whole different world. We went with his lead, in a way. It just added something to our joy,” she explained.
Matthew Perry passed away on October 28, reportedly in an apparent drowning incident in his hot tub at the age of 54. The official cause of death is yet to be released, pending the results of toxicology tests by the coroner.
