Despite not having attended a film school and residing in a different part of the city, Karan found himself on a film set, thanks to Aditya Chopra’s influence.
Recalling his initial encounters with Shah Rukh Khan, Karan reminisced about his role as an assistant director on “DDLJ.” Assigned the task of finding a costume for Shah Rukh Khan, Karan offered fashion advice to the actor, suggesting tight jeans and showcasing his Adam’s apple. Amused by the unconventional recommendations, Shah Rukh Khan questioned Karan’s origins, prompting Aditya Chopra to vouch for his expertise as a “townie.”
The collaboration deepened as Karan Johar assisted Aditya Chopra in crafting the film’s climax. Johar’s writing prowess, evident in an adaptation of ‘For Caesar is an Honourable Man,’ impressed Shah Rukh Khan.
