Excitement is building in the Malayalam film industry as Mohanlal is all set to team up with the legendary actor Sathyan Anthikad after a long gap for ‘Hridayapoorvam’. Latest reports say that the ‘Master’ actress Malavika Mohanan will be playing the female lead in this heartwarming drama.
Directed by the celebrated filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, the project is set to begin filming next week. According to Mathrubhumi, The team will start with a traditional pooja ceremony in Kochi on February 10, and Mohanlal is expected to join the sets by February 14. This collaboration marks the first time Malavika and Mohanlal will work together.
Sathyan Anthikad, known for his heartfelt and relatable storytelling, is likely to bring his signature charm to ‘Hridayapoorvam’. While specific details about the plot remain under wraps, the film is rumored to be a family-centric drama, a genre Sathyan Anthikad has excelled in over the years.
On another note, Mohanlal’s highly anticipated film ‘L2: Empuraan’ has been making waves with its recently released teaser. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film features Mohanlal as Steven Nedumpally, a complex character with a mysterious past. Set in the deserted town of Qaraqosh in Northern Iraq, the story explores themes of power, betrayal, and control, weaving together political intrigue and the world of mercenaries. Written by Murali Gopy, with music by Deepak Dev and cinematography by Sujith Vaassudev, L2: Empuraan promises to be a thrilling action entertainer.
On the other hand, Mohanlal’s recently released directorial debut film ‘Barroz’ failed to impress. ETimes exclusive review for the movie reads, “The film has everything that can charm children. It primarily caters to the younger audience for sure, be it plot or the fantastical world built around it. There is the mysterious titular Barroz, played by Mohanlal himself; then there is Voodoo, more for the comic effect and assisting Barroz in his task than anything else; and the heir of the 13th generation of Portuguese explorer Da Gama’s family, Isa Ron, played by Maya Rao West, who also doubles as Isabella da Gama. Mohanlal has, as always, tried to shoulder the film as an actor too. However, the remaining casting choices of the film remain a mystery. The plot of the film revolves around the genie-like Barroz, who was once a Malabari slave working for Da Gama, guarding the treasures of the family and waiting to hand it over to his heir. It is based on the novel ‘Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasures’ by Jijo Punnoose.”
